crash the rave with candy flip
For yet another flashback, let's reminisce about Madchester outsiders Candy Flip.
The trio were the boy band version of The Charlatans or The Stone Roses, but they outdid them both scoring a #3 hit on the UK singles chart with their trippier remake of The Beatles psychedelic trip "Strawberry Fields Forever":
As you might expect from a band named after the practice of taking ecstasy and acid together, their first and only album was the ridiculously titled Madstock . . . The Continuing Adventures of Bubble Car Fish.
Most of it was crap, but I did have a soft spot for the syrupy synthy "Redhills Road":
A guilty pleasure, for sure. Just not as guilty as EMF.
