mogwai 'san pedro' stalking video
So far, we've seen two videos from Mogwai's 7th album Hardcore Will Never Die But You Will. An edit of "How To Be A Werewolf" accompanied a short film about world record cyclist James Bowthorpe, and "Mexican Grand Prix" catalogued the many faces of native Glaswegians.
Yesterday, the band released a video for perhaps the best cut on the album, "San Pedro." It follows a mysterious trench coated man who's identity is just out of reach:
You can actually see Mogwai's faces when their current tour brings them to the states in mid-April.

Here at Old Waver, we've been all over Mogwai's upcoming 7th full length Hardcore Will Never Die But You Will
Now until the album hits stores, you can stream the whole thing courtesy of Rolling Stone. You might also want to check out the new video for "Mexican Grand Prix" — a track we liked so much we put it on our January mix tape.
The video itself is a disorienting, rapid-fire look at Mogwai's hometown of Glasgow and the many friendly faces you'll find there:
Can't get enough of those post-rocking Scots? They'll be touring the states in support of the new album beginning in mid-April.
Until then, enjoy an insightful look at the formative influences of Mogwai's Stuart Braithwaite in Pitchfork's excellent 5-10-15-20 feature. Glad we can all agree that Star Wars

hardcore will never die, but you will: mogwai preview
Scot post-rock icons Mogwai will release their 7th(!) full length album Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will
As albums these days are wont to do, it has leaked ahead of its release date. While not as epic as Come On Die Young
First, let's have a listen to the cinematic and anthemic "White Noise":
For a harder edge, here's what will certainly become a Mogwai live staple, "San Pedro":
"Mexican Grand Prix" features some Stereolab style keyboards and Mogwai's trademark "vocals":
Finally, it's worth revisiting the unofficial video for "How To Be A Werewolf". As we mentioned last month, filmmaker Antony Crook captured world-record-holding cyclist James Bowthorpe on the roads of the Norwegian countryside. The result is a beautiful and inspirational work of art:
Happy New Year!

They've already given away a preview track, "Rano Pano", which you can download below.
Yesterday, filmmaker Antony Crook posted a short film entitled Thirty Century Man that features a Mogwai-produced edit of new song "How To Be A Werewolf". The film features cyclist James Bowthorpe who holds the record for cycling around the world.
Crook captures Bowthorpe riding through the Norwegian countryside and as he tells Nowness "I wanted the film to somehow give a sense of what James had achieved and the idea of him being alone, somewhere wild and isolated. We found the perfect backdrop to tell this story of somebody who points his bike at the horizon and then doesn't stop pedaling. It's a film about never giving up.”
It's also badass:
