liam and beady eye 'live on letterman'

Liam Gallagher and everyone else in Oasis not named Gallagher, Beady Eye, made their US network television debut on Letterman last night.

Different Gear, Still Speeding hasn't quite become the equal of Definitely Maybe as Liam predicted, but you can't fault his determination. Courtesy of theaudioperv, here's the broadcast performance of "The Roller":

Beady Eye also did the Live On Letterman webcast thing that's become pretty standard for the show's bigger musical guests. Originally streamed yesterday evening, you can watch the whole set here:

And if that wasn't enough, here's a bonus bit of Beady Eye... a cover of The Beatles "Across The Universe" the band recorded a few months back for Japan Tsunami relief:

mad fer 'the roller' - beady eye's proper debut

Share

The release of Liam Gallagher's debut album with the remnants of Oasis, Beady Eye, is still nearly two months away. Today, however, the first proper single from Different Gear, Still Speeding has popped up online.

"The Roller" will be released as a vinyl 7" with B-side "Two Of A Kind" on February 21, and the official video will premiere on BBC Four next Monday.

After the old school soul of "Bring The Light" and Oasis sneer of "Four Letter Word", the new single strikes a happy medium between Britpop and British Invasion nostalgia:

In typical boastful fashion, Liam expects Beady Eye's debut to be the equal of Definitely Maybe. As doubtful as that may be, it seems Andy Bell and Gem Archer are more than capable of stepping out from the elder Gallagher's shadow.

Don't look back in anger, Noel.

UPDATE:

Here's the official video, filmed in a "motorcycle wall of death":
