Last year, Steve Mason — onetime leader of The Beta Band — released a rather overlooked solo album, Boys Outside. It was closer in songcraft to his Beta Band days than his more experimental work as King Biscuit Time, but it didn't quite have the hooks to demand notice.
On July 25, Mason will release a reworked version entitled Ghosts Outside that he put together with reggae musician and producer Dennis Bovell. It's a pretty radical departure, but from the sound of "Yesterday Dub" it kinda works:

Glad to see Mason is back at work, although I'll always miss The Beta Band. Not only were they visionary, they put on an incredible live show. This hardly captures it, but check out "Dry The Rain" from their final show in 2004 from Shepherds Bush Empire:
