trophy wife is deeper than beauty

Another new one to watch are Trophy Wife, from Oxford. More or less "discovered" by Yannis Philippakis of UK math rockers Foals, they were quickly signed to Moshi Moshi — home to the likes of Hot Chip, Bloc Party, Friendly Fires and The Drums.


So far, Trophy Wife only have a couple of singles to their credit, but they offer a tantalizing view of the trio's potential.

"The Quiet Earth" clues you in on their m.o. right away. Think Foals with a disco beat — and one of those groovy, dancing sign language chicks:




Even groovier is the remix by labelmate and "folktronica" auteur James Yuill:




Trophy Wife's first single "Microlite" is arresting and beautiful in a way well beyond their years:
